Celebrity spokesperson for National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph is one of the celebrity spokespersons for the National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Through her work with the Diva Foundation, she’s been an HIV/AIDS advocate for more than 20 years.

Sisters’ Circle: Journey to Africa

Sheryl Lee Ralph led a delegation of women from across the nation to Cape Town, Africa for a healing journey and week-long summit to discuss the effects of HIV/AIDS on African and African American women. The delegation travelled to Cape Town, South African from March 30 through April 6, 2008.

Sometimes I Cry
Ralph is also touring her one-woman play, “Sometimes I Cry.” Written and produced by Ralph, ”Sometimes I Cry” is a complex and thought-provoking show, inspired by real women life stories and their battle with HIV/AIDS. Two years ago, Ralph became outraged over the silence about HIV/AIDS, and how it kills too many people, too many women, too many African Americans. For this reason, she created the critically-acclaimed, one-woman play, “Sometimes I Cry.” The play deals with the loves, lives and losses of women infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. The Diva FoundationThe Diva Foundation is a national not-for-profit 501(3) charitable organization founded by Ralph in 1990 as a memorial to the many friends she lost to HIV/AIDS. The organization focuses on generating resources and coordinating activities to create awareness of and combat against HIV/AIDS. The Diva Foundation utilizes music and entertainment as a vehicle to inform, educate and erase the stigma attached to this deadly disease.
